ABOUT ME
My passion as a therapist includes working with adolescents in their late teens, young adults, and adults into late adulthood. I enjoy working with clients individually, as couples, in families, and in groups.
I have compassionately assisted a diverse group of clients on an outpatient basis at Silver Hill Hospital® in New Canaan, CT and elsewhere, by teaming with them to address issues including; addiction and co-occurring disorders; anxiety, OCD, depression, trauma, PTSD, identity development and acceptance; low self-esteem, emotional self-regulation; stress management, relationships, family conflict, co-dependency, career struggles; academic difficulties; grief, loss, and other life transitions.
Regardless of what your struggles might be, my focus will be to understand your goals and needs and provide you with the tools necessary to help you take charge of your own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With this comes a reduction of stress and anxiety, a gaining of greater self-awareness, and the opportunity to live your best life.
I am a strong advocate for utilizing positive self-talk to increase mood, reduce anxiety, and improve relationships. Also, learning more about why you do the things you do, and taking action to address those behaviors that are causing you distress in life, will help you to build a happier and healthier you. Taking this journey with a therapist who is there to support, encourage, and challenge you to be the best person you can be, might just be your next best step in life!
I consider myself to be very approachable, compassionate and easy to talk to. I provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing therapeutic setting. I am happy to create a personally tailored plan for treating you and your unique situation and needs.
I do believe in a collaborative, holistic and integrative body-mind-spirit approach to therapy. I like to meet clients where they are, and use various evidenced-based, trauma informed, person-centered treatment approaches; including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), solution-focused therapy (SF), and mindfulness.
I also offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to assist clients who have experienced trauma, and other psychological stress. The EMDR International Association offers a great overview of EMDR therapy here.
I look forward to meeting with you soon!
Please call or e-mail me with any questions you might have. I try to return all inquiries within 24 to 36 hours.
